What is the price of BSE IT index live today?
The NIFTY MIDCAP 100 last traded at 54,385.4. It was down 0.3% over its previous close.
Within the BSE IT, the top gainers were EXPLEO SOLUTIONS (up 4.5%) and CIGNITI TECHNOLOGIES (up 3.9%). On the other hand, BRIGHTCOM GROUP (down 4.8%) and NUCLEUS SOFTWARE (down 4.6%) were among the top losers.

Can we buy the BSE IT index?
The BSE IT index is a collection of stocks and not a security that is traded on any stock exchange. Hence, we cannot buy it directly.
However, there are ways in which one can invest in the BSE IT index.
One can invest in index funds or ETFs representing the index or buying future and options for it.
Which are the other important indices one should track?
Well, it depends on what your goals are.
Having said that, the two key indices to track are the BSE Sensex which contains the list of BSE 30 stocks and the NSE Nifty which contains the list of NSE 50 stocks.
However, these two indices are considered to be too narrow by some, since they only track 30 and 50 stocks, respectively.
For broader tracking, you could use the BSE 200, BSE 500 or even the NSE 500 index.
Some popular market cap based indices include BSE Smallcap index and BSE Midcap index, among others.
Which other sectoral indices should one track?
It depends on one's specific interests and investment goals.
Some popular sectoral indices to track in addition to the broader market indices are BSE power index, BSE healthcare index, BSE manufacturing index and BSE auto index.
It's important to research and understand the industries and companies included in each sectoral index to make informed investment decisions.
