How to Sell Scrips? The Sell option allows you to update your portfolio by selling some quantity of the stocks or the entire stock.
Step 1 Go to Portfolio Tracker Homepage, select the portfolio from which you want to sell the stock and click on <Go>. You will be directed to the Consolidated Holdings Report. Now let's assume that you want to sell some quantity of TATA STEEL shares. Step 2 Select TATA STEEL and click on <Sell>. You will be directed to Sell Scrip(s) page. Here, you will find two ways to sell the scrips:
Method I: The FIFO (First In First Out) method In this method, the oldest transaction gets sold automatically. For example let's assume that you want to sell 55 shares of TATA STEEL. Step 1 Enter the quantity (55 in this case) in the SELL QUANTITY field and click on the Sell link. Now the Portfolio Tracker will sell the first 55 shares that you had purchased on December 8th 2008 automatically. Once the shares are sold, you will now be directed to the Portfolio Tracker. You will now find that the quantity of TATA STEEL has reduced to 590 from 645. Method II: The Transaction Method In this method, you can sell the scrips on transaction basis i.e. you will have to manually enter the quantity sold against every transaction. You can use this method when you want to sell a specific amount of shares from a specific transaction. Now let's assume that you wish to sell 100 shares of TATA STEEL. Step 1 Enter the quantity to be sold against each transaction. Step 2 Click on the <Sell> button to sell the multiple transactions at once. You will be directed to the Consolidated Holdings Report. You will now find that the quantity of Tata Steel has changed to 490 from 590. |
