BPCL Gains 3%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 0.4%

BPCL share price has zoomed 3% and is presently trading at Rs 318.3.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 31,870.0 (up 0.4%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are HPCL (up 3.3%) and Indraprastha Gas (up 1.4%).

Reliance Ind. (down 1.2%) and GAIL (down 0.7%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, BPCL has moved up from Rs 193.1 to Rs 318.3, registering a gain of Rs 125.2 (up 64.9%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 19,189.2 to 31,870.0, registering a gain of 66.1% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were GAIL (up 112.9%), ONGC (up 93.3%) and HPCL (up 85.2%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 80,765.1 (up 0.1%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are Hindustan Unilever (up 3.1%) and Bharti Airtel (up 1.9%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and ICICI Bank.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,628.3 (up 0.2%). Coal India and Hindustan Unilever are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 65,393.9 to 80,765.1, registering a gain of 15,371.2 points (up 23.5%).

BPCL Financial Update...

BPCL net profit fell 14.4% YoY to Rs 49,922 million for the quarter ended March 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 58,344 million a year ago. Net sales declined 1.0% to Rs 1,320,869 million during the period as against Rs 1,334,196 million in January-March 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, BPCL reported 81.8% decrease in net profit to Rs 21,311 million compared to net profit of Rs 116,815 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 58.2% to Rs 4,128,271 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of BPCL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 5.4.
