BHEL Plunges 3%; BSE CAPITAL GOODS Index Down 0.1%

BHEL share price has plunged 3% and is presently trading at Rs 294.4.

Meanwhile, the BSE CAPITAL GOODS index is at 72,632.5 (down 0.1%).

Among the top losers in the BSE CAPITAL GOODS index today are Thermax (down 2.3%) and Siemens (down 2.2%).

GRINDWELL NORTON (up 2.9%) and V GUARD IND. (up 2.9%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, BHEL has moved up from Rs 85.2 to Rs 294.4, registering a gain of Rs 209.2 (up 245.7%).

On the other hand, the BSE CAPITAL GOODS index has moved up from 40,035.1 to 72,632.5, registering a gain of 81.4% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE CAPITAL GOODS index stocks during this same period were BHEL (up 245.7%), HINDUSTAN AERO. (up 185.8%) and Bharat Electronics (up 151.8%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 79,319.8 (down 0.2%).

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are Kotak Bank (down 3.8%) and Indusind Bank (down 2.4%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and SBI.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,104.5 (down 0.2%). Kotak Bank and Shriram Transport are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 63,915.4 to 79,319.8, registering a gain of 15,404.3 points (up 24.1%).

BHEL Financial Update...

BHEL net profit fell 26.2% YoY to Rs 4,760 million for the quarter ended March 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 6,451 million a year ago. Net sales rose 0.4% to Rs 82,603 million during the period as against Rs 82,270 million in January-March 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, BHEL reported 7.3% increase in net profit to Rs 4,774 million compared to net profit of Rs 4,447 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 8.5% to Rs 197,989 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of BHEL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at -336.0.
