MAHANAGAR GAS Gains 6%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 1.6%

MAHANAGAR GAS share price has zoomed 6% and is presently trading at Rs 1,597.4.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 29,512.1 (up 1.6%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are Indraprastha Gas (up 4.3%) and Petronet LNG (up 2.6%).

HPCL (down 0.3%) and ADANI TOTAL GAS (down 0.2%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, MAHANAGAR GAS has moved up from Rs 1,028.3 to Rs 1,597.4, registering a gain of Rs 569.2 (up 55.4%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 17,956.4 to 29,512.1, registering a gain of 64.4% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were GAIL (up 111.2%), IOC (up 85.1%) and HPCL (up 84.2%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 79,248.8 .

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are Tata Motors (up 2.3%) and Reliance Ind. (up 2.2%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are SBI and Tata Steel.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,066.7 (up 0.1%). Dr. Reddys and ONGC are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 62,970.0 to 79,248.8, registering a gain of 16,278.8 points (up 25.9%).

MAHANAGAR GAS Financial Update...

MAHANAGAR GAS net profit fell 6.2% YoY to Rs 2,523 million for the quarter ended March 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 2,688 million a year ago. Net sales declined 0.0% to Rs 17,715 million during the period as against Rs 17,718 million in January-March 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, MAHANAGAR GAS reported 32.3% increase in net profit to Rs 7,901 million compared to net profit of Rs 5,970 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 75.5% to Rs 56,776 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of MAHANAGAR GAS, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 12.4.
