Chennai Petroleum share price has zoomed 5% and is presently trading at Rs 590.1.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 25,799.3 (up 0.1%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are BPCL (up 1.3%) and Indraprastha Gas (up 1.2%).

GUJARAT GAS (down 0.7%) and ONGC (down 0.6%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, Chennai Petroleum has moved down from Rs 638.9 to Rs 590.1, registering a loss of Rs 48.8 (down 7.6%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 19,548.4 to 25,799.3, registering a gain of 32.0% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were HPCL (up 75.0%), Petronet LNG (up 57.6%) and BPCL (up 49.3%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are Nestle (up 2.0%) and Tech Mahindra (up 1.5%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and NTPC.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 23,590.1 (up 0.6%). NTPC and Trent are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 65,675.9 to 77,548.0, registering a gain of 11,872.1 points (up 18.1%).

Chennai Petroleum Financial Update...

Chennai Petroleum net profit fell 154.5% YoY to Rs -6,478 million for the quarter ended September 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 11,878 million a year ago. Net sales declined 27.9% to Rs 144,247 million during the period as against Rs 200,098 million in July-September 2023.

For the year ended March 2024, Chennai Petroleum reported 22.3% decrease in net profit to Rs 27,451 million compared to net profit of Rs 35,315 million during FY23. Revenue of the company fell 14.5% to Rs 534,989 million during FY24.

The current Price to earnings ratio of Chennai Petroleum, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 13.2.
