SAIL Plunges 4%; BSE METAL Index Down 0.7%

SAIL share price has plunged 4% and is presently trading at Rs 117.8.

Meanwhile, the BSE METAL index is at 31,082.5 (down 0.7%).

Among the top losers in the BSE METAL index today are Coal India (down 2.7%) and Jindal Steel (down 2.1%).

Hindalco (up 1.2%) and Vedanta (up 0.7%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, SAIL has moved up from Rs 86.8 to Rs 117.8, registering a gain of Rs 31.0 (up 35.7%).

On the other hand, the BSE METAL index has moved up from 22,728.7 to 31,082.5, registering a gain of 36.8% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE METAL index stocks during this same period were Vedanta (up 97.7%), Hindustan Zinc (up 71.7%) and Jindal Steel (up 48.8%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 79,350.7 (down 0.2%).

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are Asian Paints (down 2.7%) and ICICI Bank (down 1.9%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and Tata Motors.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,119.5 (down 0.3%). Asian Paints and Coal India are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 64,958.7 to 79,350.7, registering a gain of 14,392.0 points (up 22.2%).

SAIL Financial Update...

SAIL net profit fell 38.7% YoY to Rs 7,419 million for the quarter ended September 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 12,105 million a year ago. Net sales declined 17.0% to Rs 246,752 million during the period as against Rs 297,121 million in July-September 2023.

For the year ended March 2024, SAIL reported 40.9% increase in net profit to Rs 30,667 million compared to net profit of Rs 21,765 million during FY23. Revenue of the company grew 0.9% to Rs 1,053,783 million during FY24.

The current Price to earnings ratio of SAIL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 24.5.
