Chennai Petroleum Gains 6%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 1.5%

Chennai Petroleum share price has zoomed 6% and is presently trading at Rs 664.9.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 27,707.3 (up 1.5%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are GAIL (up 6.0%) and HPCL (up 2.9%).

Over the last one year, Chennai Petroleum has moved up from Rs 579.5 to Rs 664.9, registering a gain of Rs 85.4 (up 14.7%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 18,960.3 to 27,707.3, registering a gain of 46.1% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were HPCL (up 120.8%), BPCL (up 70.4%) and GAIL (up 68.9%).

The BSE Sensex is at 80,028.2 (up 0.7%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are Infosys (up 3.1%) and HCl Tech. (up 3.0%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are ITC and Infosys.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,401.2 (up 0.8%). Trent and HCl Tech. are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 64,958.7 to 80,028.2, registering a gain of 15,069.5 points (up 23.2%).

Chennai Petroleum Financial Update...

Chennai Petroleum net profit fell 154.5% YoY to Rs -6,478 million for the quarter ended September 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 11,878 million a year ago. Net sales declined 27.9% to Rs 144,247 million during the period as against Rs 200,098 million in July-September 2023.

For the year ended March 2024, Chennai Petroleum reported 22.3% decrease in net profit to Rs 27,451 million compared to net profit of Rs 35,315 million during FY23. Revenue of the company fell 14.5% to Rs 534,989 million during FY24.

The current Price to earnings ratio of Chennai Petroleum, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 14.8.
