NHPC Plunges 4%; BSE POWER Index Down 1.2%

NHPC share price has plunged 4% and is presently trading at Rs 79.8.

Meanwhile, the BSE POWER index is at 7,642.3 (down 1.2%).

Among the top losers in the BSE POWER index today are TORRENT POWER (down 5.3%) and ABB (down 4.9%).

ADANI ENERGY SOLUTIONS (up 0.3%) and ADANI POWER (up 0.2%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, NHPC has moved up from Rs 49.5 to Rs 79.8, registering a gain of Rs 30.3 (up 61.2%).

On the other hand, the BSE POWER index has moved up from 4,378.7 to 7,642.3, registering a gain of 74.5% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE POWER index stocks during this same period were TORRENT POWER (up 136.2%), Siemens (up 106.7%) and BHEL (up 89.3%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 78,324.2 (down 0.6%).

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are MUNDRA PORT & SEZ (down 3.7%) and M&M (down 1.8%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and Tata Motors.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 23,863.1 (down 0.6%). MUNDRA PORT & SEZ and Coal India are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 63,591.3 to 78,324.2, registering a gain of 14,732.9 points (up 23.2%).

NHPC Financial Update...

NHPC net profit fell 3.3% YoY to Rs 10,209 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 10,561 million a year ago. Net sales declined 2.3% to Rs 26,942 million during the period as against Rs 27,573 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended March 2024, NHPC reported 5.5% decrease in net profit to Rs 40,280 million compared to net profit of Rs 42,608 million during FY23. Revenue of the company fell 9.2% to Rs 96,322 million during FY24.

The current Price to earnings ratio of NHPC, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 22.3.
