M&M Plunges 5%; BSE AUTO Index Down 2.8%

M&M share price has plunged 5% and is presently trading at Rs 2,690.5.

Meanwhile, the BSE AUTO index is at 53,766.4 (down 2.8%).

Among the top losers in the BSE AUTO index today are TVS Motors (down 3.8%) and Hero Motocorp (down 3.5%).

Escorts (up 1.1%) is among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, M&M has moved up from Rs 1,563.7 to Rs 2,690.5, registering a gain of Rs 1,126.8 (up 72.1%).

On the other hand, the BSE AUTO index has moved up from 37,013.4 to 53,766.4, registering a gain of 45.3% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE AUTO index stocks during this same period were Motherson Sumi (up 103.0%), Cummins India (up 96.9%) and Bajaj Auto (up 85.5%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 79,321.2 (down 0.9%).

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are Indusind Bank (down 19.4%) and NTPC (down 4.0%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and Indusind Bank.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,135.5 (down 1.1%). Indusind Bank and Adani Enterprises are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 64,571.9 to 79,321.2, registering a gain of 14,749.3 points (up 22.8%).

M&M Financial Update...

M&M net profit fell 5.9% YoY to Rs 32,213 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 34,226 million a year ago. Net sales rose 9.8% to Rs 372,177 million during the period as against Rs 338,916 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended March 2024, M&M reported 7.9% increase in net profit to Rs 122,698 million compared to net profit of Rs 113,745 million during FY23. Revenue of the company grew 14.0% to Rs 1,382,793 million during FY24.

The current Price to earnings ratio of M&M, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 30.6.
