CESC Gains 9%; BSE POWER Index Up 0.2%

CESC share price has zoomed 9% and is presently trading at Rs 164.5.

Meanwhile, the BSE POWER index is at 7,846.5 (up 0.2%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE POWER index today are BHEL (up 0.8%) and Tata Power (up 0.7%).

TORRENT POWER (down 1.0%) and ADANI GREEN ENERGY (down 0.5%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, CESC has moved up from Rs 72.1 to Rs 164.5, registering a gain of Rs 92.4 (up 128.2%).

On the other hand, the BSE POWER index has moved up from 3,949.4 to 7,846.5, registering a gain of 98.7% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE POWER index stocks during this same period were BHEL (up 253.2%), ADANI POWER (up 188.5%) and TORRENT POWER (up 136.9%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 78,492.5 (up 0.6%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are Ultratech Cement (up 3.3%) and Reliance Ind. (up 2.0%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and ICICI Bank.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 23,828.8 (up 0.5%). Ultratech Cement and Reliance Ind. are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 62,970.0 to 78,492.5, registering a gain of 15,522.5 points (up 24.7%).

CESC Financial Update...

CESC net profit fell 6.7% YoY to Rs 4,150 million for the quarter ended March 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 4,450 million a year ago. Net sales rose 9.2% to Rs 33,870 million during the period as against Rs 31,020 million in January-March 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, CESC reported 0.5% decrease in net profit to Rs 13,973 million compared to net profit of Rs 14,041 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 13.6% to Rs 142,464 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of CESC, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 15.1.
