SAIL Plunges 3%; BSE METAL Index Down 0.5%

SAIL share price has plunged 3% and is presently trading at Rs 136.8.

Meanwhile, the BSE METAL index is at 34,457.6 (down 0.5%).

Among the top losers in the BSE METAL index today are NMDC (down 2.6%) and Hindalco (down 1.5%).

Jindal Steel (up 2.0%) and JSW Steel (up 1.5%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, SAIL has moved up from Rs 91.7 to Rs 136.8, registering a gain of Rs 45.1 (up 49.1%).

On the other hand, the BSE METAL index has moved up from 23,025.5 to 34,457.6, registering a gain of 49.6% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE METAL index stocks during this same period were Vedanta (up 121.4%), Coal India (up 72.4%) and Hindustan Zinc (up 70.4%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 82,557.8 (down 2.0%).

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are Asian Paints (down 4.4%) and L&T (down 4.0%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are HDFC Bank and Reliance Ind..

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 25,255.2 (down 2.1%). BPCL and IOC are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 65,512.1 to 82,557.8, registering a gain of 17,045.7 points (up 26.0%).

SAIL Financial Update...

SAIL net profit fell 116.7% YoY to Rs -249 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 1,491 million a year ago. Net sales declined 1.5% to Rs 239,978 million during the period as against Rs 243,591 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended March 2024, SAIL reported 40.9% increase in net profit to Rs 30,667 million compared to net profit of Rs 21,765 million during FY23. Revenue of the company grew 0.9% to Rs 1,053,783 million during FY24.

The current Price to earnings ratio of SAIL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 23.0.
