BHEL Plunges 5%; BSE CAPITAL GOODS Index Down 3.1%

BHEL share price has plunged 5% and is presently trading at Rs 267.5.

Meanwhile, the BSE CAPITAL GOODS index is at 70,817.4 (down 3.1%).

Among the top losers in the BSE CAPITAL GOODS index today are GMR Infra (down 5.3%) and ADANI GREEN ENERGY (down 4.4%).

Over the last one year, BHEL has moved up from Rs 131.1 to Rs 267.5, registering a gain of Rs 136.4 (up 104.0%).

On the other hand, the BSE CAPITAL GOODS index has moved up from 48,209.1 to 70,817.4, registering a gain of 46.9% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE CAPITAL GOODS index stocks during this same period were HINDUSTAN AERO. (up 118.2%), Siemens (up 105.6%) and BHEL (up 104.0%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 82,557.8 (down 2.0%).

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are Asian Paints (down 4.4%) and L&T (down 4.0%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are HDFC Bank and Reliance Ind..

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 25,255.2 (down 2.1%). BPCL and IOC are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 65,512.1 to 82,557.8, registering a gain of 17,045.7 points (up 26.0%).

BHEL Financial Update...

BHEL net profit fell 2.2% YoY to Rs -2,256 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a loss of Rs 2,208 million a year ago. Net sales rose 9.6% to Rs 54,849 million during the period as against Rs 50,034 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended March 2024, BHEL reported 56.9% decrease in net profit to Rs 2,822 million compared to net profit of Rs 6,541 million during FY23. Revenue of the company grew 1.6% to Rs 201,068 million during FY24.

The current Price to earnings ratio of BHEL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at -545.6.
