HPCL Gains 4%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 2.1%

HPCL share price has zoomed 4% and is presently trading at Rs 437.2.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 31,754.9 (up 2.1%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are BPCL (up 6.6%) and IOC (up 4.4%).

Over the last one year, HPCL has moved up from Rs 173.4 to Rs 437.2, registering a gain of Rs 263.8 (up 152.1%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 18,977.6 to 31,754.9, registering a gain of 67.3% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were HPCL (up 152.1%), BPCL (up 109.2%) and IOC (up 94.8%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 85,619.9 (down 0.3%).

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are Power Grid Corp. (down 3.0%) and Bharti Airtel (down 2.3%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and Tata Motors.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 26,185.8 (down 0.1%). Power Grid Corp. and Bharti Airtel are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 66,023.7 to 85,619.9, registering a gain of 19,596.2 points (up 29.7%).

HPCL Financial Update...

HPCL net profit fell 95.9% YoY to Rs 2,459 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 60,658 million a year ago. Net sales rose 1.5% to Rs 1,209,433 million during the period as against Rs 1,191,623 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended March 2024, HPCL reported 329.4% increase in net profit to Rs 160,146 million compared to net loss of Rs 69,802 million during FY23. Revenue of the company fell 2.2% to Rs 4,057,439 million during FY24.

The current Price to earnings ratio of HPCL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 11.1.
