Oil India Plunges 6%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Down 1.8%

Oil India share price has plunged 6% and is presently trading at Rs 560.6.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 29,893.9 (down 1.8%).

Among the top losers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are GAIL (down 3.5%) and Petronet LNG (down 2.8%).

Indraprastha Gas (up 0.4%) and Reliance Ind. (up 0.3%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, Oil India has moved up from Rs 190.4 to Rs 560.6, registering a gain of Rs 370.1 (up 194.4%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 19,278.9 to 29,893.9, registering a gain of 55.1% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were HPCL (up 132.2%), BPCL (up 81.5%) and IOC (up 78.1%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 83,190.5 (up 0.3%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are NTPC (up 2.8%) and Nestle (up 2.1%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are NTPC and Tata Steel.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 25,424.1 (up 0.2%). NTPC and Nestle are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 67,596.8 to 83,190.5, registering a gain of 15,593.6 points (up 23.1%).

Oil India Financial Update...

Oil India net profit grew 45.2% YoY to Rs 18,925 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 13,038 million a year ago. Net sales rose 45.9% to Rs 93,509 million during the period as against Rs 64,088 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended March 2024, Oil India reported 29.2% decrease in net profit to Rs 69,805 million compared to net profit of Rs 98,544 million during FY23. Revenue of the company fell 8.1% to Rs 286,284 million during FY24.

The current Price to earnings ratio of Oil India, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 12.8.
