BPCL Plunges 2%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Down 1.3%

BPCL share price has plunged 2% and is presently trading at Rs 307.8.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 28,863.3 (down 1.3%).

Among the top losers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are HPCL (down 2.4%) and GAIL (down 1.7%).

Petronet LNG (up 1.9%) is among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, BPCL has moved down from Rs 372.4 to Rs 307.8, registering a loss of Rs 64.6 (down 17.3%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 18,257.9 to 28,863.3, registering a gain of 58.1% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were GAIL (up 98.2%), IOC (up 81.5%) and ONGC (up 71.5%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 77,209.9 (down 0.4%).

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are Ultratech Cement (down 2.2%) and L&T (down 1.8%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and ITC.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 23,501.1 (down 0.3%). Ultratech Cement and Adani Enterprises are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 63,327.7 to 77,209.9, registering a gain of 13,882.2 points (up 21.9%).

BPCL Financial Update...

BPCL net profit fell 14.4% YoY to Rs 49,922 million for the quarter ended March 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 58,344 million a year ago. Net sales declined 1.0% to Rs 1,320,869 million during the period as against Rs 1,334,196 million in January-March 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, BPCL reported 81.8% decrease in net profit to Rs 21,311 million compared to net profit of Rs 116,815 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 58.2% to Rs 4,128,271 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of BPCL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 5.2.
