Chennai Petroleum Gains 9%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Down 0.3%

Chennai Petroleum share price has zoomed 9% and is presently trading at Rs 973.3.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 31,555.1 (down 0.3%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are HPCL (up 1.3%) and BPCL (up 0.9%).

ADANI TOTAL GAS (down 1.1%) and ONGC (down 1.1%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, Chennai Petroleum has moved up from Rs 366.0 to Rs 973.3, registering a gain of Rs 607.3 (up 166.0%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 18,983.0 to 31,555.1, registering a gain of 66.2% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were HPCL (up 114.2%), GAIL (up 101.3%) and ONGC (up 86.5%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 79,159.7 (up 0.3%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are TCS (up 2.0%) and HCl Tech. (up 1.9%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and Infosys.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,172.5 (up 0.1%). TCS and HCl Tech. are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 65,401.9 to 79,159.7, registering a gain of 13,757.8 points (up 21.0%).

Chennai Petroleum Financial Update...

Chennai Petroleum net profit fell 37.5% YoY to Rs 3,426 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 5,484 million a year ago. Net sales rose 13.2% to Rs 203,612 million during the period as against Rs 179,859 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended March 2024, Chennai Petroleum reported 22.3% decrease in net profit to Rs 27,451 million compared to net profit of Rs 35,315 million during FY23. Revenue of the company fell 14.5% to Rs 534,989 million during FY24.

The current Price to earnings ratio of Chennai Petroleum, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 5.8.
