GAIL Gains 4%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 0.8%

GAIL share price has zoomed 4% and is presently trading at Rs 243.2.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 32,726.0 (up 0.8%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are Petronet LNG (up 2.6%) and HPCL (up 1.0%).

IOC (down 0.5%) and Reliance Ind. (down 0.3%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, GAIL has moved up from Rs 119.0 to Rs 243.2, registering a gain of Rs 124.2 (up 104.3%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 19,424.1 to 32,726.0, registering a gain of 68.5% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were HPCL (up 112.4%), GAIL (up 104.3%) and IOC (up 94.0%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 81,735.1 (up 0.3%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are Asian Paints (up 2.4%) and NTPC (up 1.9%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and Tata Motors.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,937.8 (up 0.3%). Asian Paints and NTPC are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 66,527.7 to 81,735.1, registering a gain of 15,207.4 points (up 22.9%).

GAIL Financial Update...

GAIL net profit grew 92.0% YoY to Rs 27,192 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 14,160 million a year ago. Net sales rose 6.0% to Rs 348,219 million during the period as against Rs 328,488 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, GAIL reported 54.5% decrease in net profit to Rs 55,959 million compared to net profit of Rs 123,036 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 57.0% to Rs 1,454,616 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of GAIL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 16.8.
