TORRENT POWER Plunges 5%; BSE POWER Index Up 0.1%

TORRENT POWER share price has plunged 5% and is presently trading at Rs 1,510.9.

Meanwhile, the BSE POWER index is at 7,815.7 (up 0.1%).

Among the top losers in the BSE POWER index today are Thermax (down 1.9%) and ABB (down 1.7%).

BHEL (up 0.5%) and NTPC (up 0.5%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, TORRENT POWER has moved up from Rs 660.1 to Rs 1,510.9, registering a gain of Rs 850.8 (up 128.9%).

On the other hand, the BSE POWER index has moved up from 4,003.1 to 7,815.7, registering a gain of 95.2% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE POWER index stocks during this same period were BHEL (up 235.4%), ADANI POWER (up 180.3%) and TORRENT POWER (up 128.9%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 77,209.9 (down 0.4%).

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are Ultratech Cement (down 2.2%) and L&T (down 1.8%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and ITC.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 23,501.1 (down 0.3%). Ultratech Cement and Adani Enterprises are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 63,327.7 to 77,209.9, registering a gain of 13,882.2 points (up 21.9%).

TORRENT POWER Financial Update...

TORRENT POWER net profit fell 7.6% YoY to Rs 4,470 million for the quarter ended March 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 4,839 million a year ago. Net sales rose 8.1% to Rs 65,286 million during the period as against Rs 60,379 million in January-March 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, TORRENT POWER reported 371.9% increase in net profit to Rs 21,647 million compared to net profit of Rs 4,587 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 80.2% to Rs 256,941 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of TORRENT POWER, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 38.3.
