SAIL Plunges 5%; BSE METAL Index Down 2.2%

SAIL share price has plunged 5% and is presently trading at Rs 133.6.

Meanwhile, the BSE METAL index is at 33,515.8 (down 2.2%).

Among the top losers in the BSE METAL index today are APOLLO TUBES (down 4.5%) and NMDC (down 4.0%).

Over the last one year, SAIL has moved up from Rs 91.7 to Rs 133.6, registering a gain of Rs 41.9 (up 45.7%).

On the other hand, the BSE METAL index has moved up from 23,025.5 to 33,515.8, registering a gain of 45.6% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE METAL index stocks during this same period were Vedanta (up 115.6%), Coal India (up 65.5%) and Hindustan Zinc (up 62.6%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 81,681.5 .

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are MUNDRA PORT & SEZ (down 3.3%) and NTPC (down 2.4%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and Bharti Airtel.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,900.2 (down 0.5%). MUNDRA PORT & SEZ and ONGC are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 65,512.1 to 81,681.5, registering a gain of 16,169.4 points (up 24.7%).

SAIL Financial Update...

SAIL net profit fell 116.7% YoY to Rs -249 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 1,491 million a year ago. Net sales declined 1.5% to Rs 239,978 million during the period as against Rs 243,591 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended March 2024, SAIL reported 40.9% increase in net profit to Rs 30,667 million compared to net profit of Rs 21,765 million during FY23. Revenue of the company grew 0.9% to Rs 1,053,783 million during FY24.

The current Price to earnings ratio of SAIL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 22.5.
