SAIL Plunges 4%; BSE METAL Index Up 0.7%

SAIL share price has plunged 4% and is presently trading at Rs 131.5.

Meanwhile, the BSE METAL index is at 30,980.3 (up 0.7%).

Among the top losers in the BSE METAL index today are NMDC (down 0.6%) and APOLLO TUBES (down 0.4%).

JSW Steel (up 2.8%) and Vedanta (up 1.2%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, SAIL has moved up from Rs 94.0 to Rs 131.5, registering a gain of Rs 37.4 (up 39.8%).

On the other hand, the BSE METAL index has moved up from 21,630.2 to 30,980.3, registering a gain of 43.2% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE METAL index stocks during this same period were Coal India (up 125.0%), NMDC (up 96.4%) and Hindustan Zinc (up 88.6%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 79,712.1 (up 1.0%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are Tata Motors (up 2.9%) and JSW Steel (up 2.8%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and Tata Motors.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,361.3 (up 1.0%). Eicher Motor and Grasim Industries are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 65,953.5 to 79,712.1, registering a gain of 13,758.6 points (up 20.9%).

SAIL Financial Update...

SAIL net profit fell 116.7% YoY to Rs -249 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 1,491 million a year ago. Net sales declined 1.5% to Rs 239,978 million during the period as against Rs 243,591 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, SAIL reported 82.2% decrease in net profit to Rs 21,765 million compared to net profit of Rs 122,435 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 0.9% to Rs 1,044,477 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of SAIL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 22.1.
