SAIL Gains 3%; BSE METAL Index Up 1.9%

SAIL share price has zoomed 3% and is presently trading at Rs 154.2.

Meanwhile, the BSE METAL index is at 33,731.1 (up 1.9%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE METAL index today are Vedanta (up 5.0%) and NMDC (up 4.3%).

Over the last one year, SAIL has moved up from Rs 85.9 to Rs 154.2, registering a gain of Rs 68.3 (up 79.5%).

On the other hand, the BSE METAL index has moved up from 20,628.2 to 33,731.1, registering a gain of 63.5% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE METAL index stocks during this same period were NMDC (up 157.3%), Coal India (up 112.8%) and Hindustan Zinc (up 111.1%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 77,478.9 (up 0.2%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are JSW Steel (up 1.7%) and Tata Steel (up 1.6%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and HDFC Bank.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 23,579.2 (up 0.3%). Hindalco and Grasim Industries are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 63,168.3 to 77,478.9, registering a gain of 14,310.6 points (up 22.7%).

SAIL Financial Update...

SAIL net profit grew 10.7% YoY to Rs 9,802 million for the quarter ended March 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 8,852 million a year ago. Net sales declined 4.0% to Rs 279,585 million during the period as against Rs 291,307 million in January-March 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, SAIL reported 82.2% decrease in net profit to Rs 21,765 million compared to net profit of Rs 122,435 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 0.9% to Rs 1,044,477 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of SAIL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 24.2.
