SAIL Gains 3%; BSE METAL Index Up 1.0%

SAIL share price has zoomed 3% and is presently trading at Rs 151.8.

Meanwhile, the BSE METAL index is at 33,560.4 (up 1.0%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE METAL index today are Hindustan Zinc (up 3.2%) and NMDC (up 2.9%).

Hindalco (down 0.5%) is among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, SAIL has moved up from Rs 87.5 to Rs 151.8, registering a gain of Rs 64.3 (up 73.5%).

On the other hand, the BSE METAL index has moved up from 20,790.0 to 33,560.4, registering a gain of 61.4% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE METAL index stocks during this same period were NMDC (up 133.9%), Hindustan Zinc (up 117.5%) and Coal India (up 109.3%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 80,010.5 (up 0.7%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are MUNDRA PORT & SEZ (up 2.6%) and Kotak Bank (up 2.4%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are SBI and Tata Steel.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,295.6 (up 0.7%). Tata Consumer Products and Kotak Bank are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 65,205.1 to 80,010.5, registering a gain of 14,805.4 points (up 22.7%).

SAIL Financial Update...

SAIL net profit grew 10.7% YoY to Rs 9,802 million for the quarter ended March 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 8,852 million a year ago. Net sales declined 4.0% to Rs 279,585 million during the period as against Rs 291,307 million in January-March 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, SAIL reported 82.2% decrease in net profit to Rs 21,765 million compared to net profit of Rs 122,435 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 0.9% to Rs 1,044,477 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of SAIL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 23.9.
