Oil India Plunges 7%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 0.1%

Oil India share price has plunged 7% and is presently trading at Rs 522.2.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 30,173.0 (up 0.1%).

Among the top losers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are Indraprastha Gas (down 1.0%) and Petronet LNG (down 0.3%).

HPCL (up 2.8%) and Reliance Ind. (up 0.7%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, Oil India has moved up from Rs 213.4 to Rs 522.2, registering a gain of Rs 308.8 (up 144.7%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 19,000.3 to 30,173.0, registering a gain of 58.8% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were HPCL (up 154.2%), BPCL (up 101.8%) and IOC (up 85.2%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 81,481.1 (down 0.4%).

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are M&M (down 2.9%) and Infosys (down 2.0%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and Tata Motors.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,959.9 (down 0.4%). Trent and M&M are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 66,166.9 to 81,481.1, registering a gain of 15,314.1 points (up 23.1%).

Oil India Financial Update...

Oil India net profit grew 45.2% YoY to Rs 18,925 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 13,038 million a year ago. Net sales rose 45.9% to Rs 93,509 million during the period as against Rs 64,088 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended March 2024, Oil India reported 29.2% decrease in net profit to Rs 69,805 million compared to net profit of Rs 98,544 million during FY23. Revenue of the company fell 8.1% to Rs 286,284 million during FY24.

The current Price to earnings ratio of Oil India, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 11.9.
