ONGC Gains 5%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 3.4%

ONGC share price has zoomed 5% and is presently trading at Rs 258.9.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 26,609.2 (up 3.4%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are HPCL (up 5.1%) and BPCL (up 4.0%).

Over the last one year, ONGC has moved up from Rs 191.3 to Rs 258.9, registering a gain of Rs 67.6 (up 35.3%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 19,294.2 to 26,609.2, registering a gain of 37.9% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were HPCL (up 86.3%), Petronet LNG (up 70.5%) and GAIL (up 59.8%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 79,969.4 (up 1.1%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are L&T (up 4.0%) and SBI (up 3.6%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Power Grid Corp. and Tata Steel.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,201.3 (up 1.2%). Bharat Electronics and Shriram Transport are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 65,930.8 to 79,969.4, registering a gain of 14,038.7 points (up 21.3%).

ONGC Financial Update...

ONGC net profit fell 34.6% YoY to Rs 98,906 million for the quarter ended September 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 151,121 million a year ago. Net sales rose 7.3% to Rs 1,583,291 million during the period as against Rs 1,476,137 million in July-September 2023.

For the year ended March 2024, ONGC reported 67.7% increase in net profit to Rs 571,008 million compared to net profit of Rs 340,465 million during FY23. Revenue of the company fell 6.9% to Rs 5,398,572 million during FY24.

The current Price to earnings ratio of ONGC, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 8.0.
