NTPC Gains 4%; BSE POWER Index Up 2.1%

NTPC share price has zoomed 4% and is presently trading at Rs 409.0.

Meanwhile, the BSE POWER index is at 8,374.2 (up 2.1%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE POWER index today are Power Grid Corp. (up 3.7%) and INDIAN ENERGY EXCHANGE (up 1.6%).

ABB (down 0.5%) and Siemens (down 0.5%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, NTPC has moved up from Rs 201.6 to Rs 409.0, registering a gain of Rs 207.4 (up 102.9%).

On the other hand, the BSE POWER index has moved up from 4,186.3 to 8,374.2, registering a gain of 100.0% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE POWER index stocks during this same period were BHEL (up 220.8%), ADANI POWER (up 184.3%) and TORRENT POWER (up 153.6%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 81,407.1 (up 0.1%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are Power Grid Corp. (up 3.7%) and Tata Motors (up 2.0%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Power Grid Corp. and NTPC.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,883.3 (up 0.2%). Power Grid Corp. and BPCL are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 66,707.2 to 81,407.1, registering a gain of 14,699.9 points (up 22.0%).

NTPC Financial Update...

NTPC net profit grew 14.7% YoY to Rs 53,593 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 46,723 million a year ago. Net sales rose 12.6% to Rs 485,206 million during the period as against Rs 430,751 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, NTPC reported 0.9% increase in net profit to Rs 171,214 million compared to net profit of Rs 169,603 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 33.2% to Rs 1,733,380 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of NTPC, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 20.5.
