NHPC Gains 5%; BSE POWER Index Down 0.4%

NHPC share price has zoomed 5% and is presently trading at Rs 114.2.

Meanwhile, the BSE POWER index is at 8,107.6 (down 0.4%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE POWER index today are BHEL (up 1.5%) and Tata Power (up 0.8%).

Thermax (down 1.5%) and NTPC (down 1.1%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, NHPC has moved up from Rs 46.0 to Rs 114.2, registering a gain of Rs 68.3 (up 148.5%).

On the other hand, the BSE POWER index has moved up from 4,013.9 to 8,107.6, registering a gain of 102.0% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE POWER index stocks during this same period were BHEL (up 264.9%), ADANI POWER (up 197.4%) and NHPC (up 148.5%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 79,942.8 .

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are ITC (up 1.7%) and Tata Motors (up 1.6%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and HDFC Bank.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,344.7 (up 0.1%). ONGC and Coal India are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 65,344.2 to 79,942.8, registering a gain of 14,598.6 points (up 22.3%).

NHPC Financial Update...

NHPC net profit fell 20.6% YoY to Rs 4,208 million for the quarter ended March 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 5,302 million a year ago. Net sales declined 6.9% to Rs 18,881 million during the period as against Rs 20,288 million in January-March 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, NHPC reported 12.2% increase in net profit to Rs 42,347 million compared to net profit of Rs 37,743 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 16.0% to Rs 106,074 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of NHPC, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 31.6.
