GVK Power & Infra Plunges 5%; BSE POWER Index Up 1.0%

GVK Power & Infra share price has plunged 5% and is presently trading at Rs 5.8.

Meanwhile, the BSE POWER index is at 8,399.6 (up 1.0%).

Among the top losers in the BSE POWER index today are Siemens (down 1.0%) and Power Grid Corp. (down 1.0%).

TORRENT POWER (up 13.1%) and KEC INTERNATIONAL (up 3.7%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, GVK Power & Infra has moved up from Rs 2.5 to Rs 5.8, registering a gain of Rs 3.4 (up 136.2%).

On the other hand, the BSE POWER index has moved up from 4,379.7 to 8,399.6, registering a gain of 91.8% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE POWER index stocks during this same period were BHEL (up 203.0%), ADANI POWER (up 170.9%) and TORRENT POWER (up 167.6%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 81,731.4 (up 0.3%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are Asian Paints (up 2.5%) and NTPC (up 1.9%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and Tata Motors.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,937.8 (up 0.3%). Asian Paints and NTPC are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 66,527.7 to 81,731.4, registering a gain of 15,203.7 points (up 22.9%).

GVK Power & Infra Financial Update...

GVK Power & Infra net profit fell 69.3% YoY to Rs -1,429 million for the quarter ended March 2024, compared to a loss of Rs 844 million a year ago. Net sales declined 63.1% to Rs 687 million during the period as against Rs 1,863 million in January-March 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, GVK Power & Infra reported 1463.0% increase in net profit to Rs 30,711 million compared to net profit of Rs 1,965 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 147.1% to Rs 21,204 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of GVK Power & Infra, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 4.3.
