Chennai Petroleum Gains 4%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 0.7%

Chennai Petroleum share price has zoomed 4% and is presently trading at Rs 641.8.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 27,184.5 (up 0.7%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are HPCL (up 1.3%) and BPCL (up 1.1%).

GUJARAT GAS (down 0.6%) and GAIL (down 0.5%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, Chennai Petroleum has moved up from Rs 581.5 to Rs 641.8, registering a gain of Rs 60.3 (up 10.4%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 18,296.0 to 27,184.5, registering a gain of 48.6% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were HPCL (up 122.4%), Petronet LNG (up 72.2%) and BPCL (up 72.0%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 79,305.7 (up 0.7%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are JSW Steel (up 3.6%) and Tata Steel (up 3.1%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and SBI.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,164.1 (up 0.7%). JSW Steel and Hindalco are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 63,591.3 to 79,305.7, registering a gain of 15,714.4 points (up 24.7%).

Chennai Petroleum Financial Update...

Chennai Petroleum net profit fell 154.5% YoY to Rs -6,478 million for the quarter ended September 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 11,878 million a year ago. Net sales declined 27.9% to Rs 144,247 million during the period as against Rs 200,098 million in July-September 2023.

For the year ended March 2024, Chennai Petroleum reported 22.3% decrease in net profit to Rs 27,451 million compared to net profit of Rs 35,315 million during FY23. Revenue of the company fell 14.5% to Rs 534,989 million during FY24.

The current Price to earnings ratio of Chennai Petroleum, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 14.3.
