Castrol Gains 6%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 3.8%

Castrol share price has zoomed 6% and is presently trading at Rs 256.8.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 31,999.1 (up 3.8%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are ONGC (up 7.1%) and HPCL (up 3.9%).

GUJARAT GAS (down 1.1%) is among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, Castrol has moved up from Rs 152.3 to Rs 256.8, registering a gain of Rs 104.5 (up 68.6%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 18,945.7 to 31,999.1, registering a gain of 68.9% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were HPCL (up 124.5%), GAIL (up 101.9%) and BPCL (up 92.5%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 79,470.0 (up 1.1%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are MUNDRA PORT & SEZ (up 3.0%) and JSW Steel (up 2.8%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and Tata Motors.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,292.1 (up 1.3%). ONGC and Coal India are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 65,953.5 to 79,470.0, registering a gain of 13,516.5 points (up 20.5%).

Castrol Financial Update...

Castrol net profit grew 3.1% YoY to Rs 2,322 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 2,253 million a year ago. Net sales rose 4.8% to Rs 13,975 million during the period as against Rs 13,338 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended December 2023, Castrol reported 6.0% increase in net profit to Rs 8,641 million compared to net profit of Rs 8,152 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 6.3% to Rs 50,746 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of Castrol, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 28.7.
