Castrol Gains 5%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Down 0.4%

Castrol share price has zoomed 5% and is presently trading at Rs 275.0.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 32,434.2 (down 0.4%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are Indraprastha Gas (up 0.9%) and GUJARAT GAS (up 0.4%).

BPCL (down 1.7%) and HPCL (down 1.1%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, Castrol has moved up from Rs 144.3 to Rs 275.0, registering a gain of Rs 130.7 (up 90.6%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 18,813.3 to 32,434.2, registering a gain of 72.4% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were HPCL (up 130.8%), BPCL (up 100.2%) and GAIL (up 100.1%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 81,655.3 (down 0.1%).

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are JSW Steel (down 1.2%) and Kotak Bank (down 0.8%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and HCl Tech..

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,995.9 (down 0.1%). BPCL and Shriram Transport are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 65,433.3 to 81,655.3, registering a gain of 16,222.0 points (up 24.8%).

Castrol Financial Update...

Castrol net profit grew 3.1% YoY to Rs 2,322 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 2,253 million a year ago. Net sales rose 4.8% to Rs 13,975 million during the period as against Rs 13,338 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended December 2023, Castrol reported 6.0% increase in net profit to Rs 8,641 million compared to net profit of Rs 8,152 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 6.3% to Rs 50,746 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of Castrol, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 30.7.
