Castrol Gains 5%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Down 0.1%

Castrol share price has zoomed 5% and is presently trading at Rs 225.4.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 29,618.7 (down 0.1%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are IOC (up 0.2%) and ONGC (up 0.2%).

Petronet LNG (down 1.3%) and GUJARAT GAS (down 1.0%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, Castrol has moved up from Rs 122.4 to Rs 225.4, registering a gain of Rs 103.0 (up 84.2%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 18,625.6 to 29,618.7, registering a gain of 59.0% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were GAIL (up 108.0%), IOC (up 76.9%) and HPCL (up 73.7%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 80,070.5 (up 0.8%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are HDFC Bank (up 2.9%) and Axis Bank (up 2.2%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are HDFC Bank and SBI.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,299.7 (up 0.7%). HDFC Bank and Axis Bank are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 65,205.1 to 80,070.5, registering a gain of 14,865.4 points (up 22.8%).

Castrol Financial Update...

Castrol net profit grew 6.8% YoY to Rs 2,162 million for the quarter ended March 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 2,025 million a year ago. Net sales rose 2.4% to Rs 13,252 million during the period as against Rs 12,939 million in January-March 2023.

For the year ended December 2023, Castrol reported 6.0% increase in net profit to Rs 8,641 million compared to net profit of Rs 8,152 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 6.3% to Rs 50,746 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of Castrol, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 25.4.
