BPCL Plunges 5%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Down 2.0%

BPCL share price has plunged 5% and is presently trading at Rs 351.1.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 30,972.4 (down 2.0%).

Among the top losers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are GAIL (down 3.9%) and IOC (down 3.0%).

ONGC (up 0.7%) is among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, BPCL has moved up from Rs 170.6 to Rs 351.1, registering a gain of Rs 180.5 (up 105.8%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 18,778.0 to 30,972.4, registering a gain of 64.9% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were HPCL (up 155.6%), BPCL (up 105.8%) and IOC (up 92.8%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 83,002.1 (down 1.5%).

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are Asian Paints (down 3.0%) and Tata Motors (down 2.9%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are HDFC Bank and Tata Steel.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 25,452.9 (down 1.3%). Bajaj Auto and IOC are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 65,512.1 to 83,002.1, registering a gain of 17,490.0 points (up 26.7%).

BPCL Financial Update...

BPCL net profit fell 75.8% YoY to Rs 24,622 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 101,677 million a year ago. Net sales declined 0.1% to Rs 1,281,064 million during the period as against Rs 1,282,636 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended March 2024, BPCL reported 1160.4% increase in net profit to Rs 268,588 million compared to net profit of Rs 21,311 million during FY23. Revenue of the company fell 5.7% to Rs 3,891,735 million during FY24.

The current Price to earnings ratio of BPCL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 8.4.
