BPCL Plunges 3%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Down 1.3%

BPCL share price has plunged 3% and is presently trading at Rs 322.1.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 31,649.2 (down 1.3%).

Among the top losers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are GUJARAT GAS (down 3.5%) and HPCL (down 2.8%).

ADANI TOTAL GAS (up 2.5%) and Reliance Ind. (up 0.3%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, BPCL has moved up from Rs 180.2 to Rs 322.1, registering a gain of Rs 142.0 (up 78.8%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 19,149.7 to 31,649.2, registering a gain of 65.3% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were HPCL (up 107.6%), GAIL (up 92.8%) and ONGC (up 89.1%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 78,943.5 (down 0.9%).

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are HDFC Bank (down 3.3%) and Tata Motors (down 2.2%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Reliance Ind. and Tata Steel.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,131.7 (down 0.9%). HDFC Bank and Shriram Transport are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 65,995.8 to 78,943.5, registering a gain of 12,947.7 points (up 19.6%).

BPCL Financial Update...

BPCL net profit fell 75.8% YoY to Rs 24,622 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 101,677 million a year ago. Net sales declined 0.1% to Rs 1,281,064 million during the period as against Rs 1,282,636 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended March 2024, BPCL reported 1160.4% increase in net profit to Rs 268,588 million compared to net profit of Rs 21,311 million during FY23. Revenue of the company fell 5.7% to Rs 3,891,735 million during FY24.

The current Price to earnings ratio of BPCL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 7.7.
