BPCL Plunges 3%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Down 0.7%

BPCL share price has plunged 3% and is presently trading at Rs 296.6.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 28,520.2 (down 0.7%).

Among the top losers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are ADANI TOTAL GAS (down 2.1%) and Petronet LNG (down 2.0%).

Reliance Ind. (up 0.8%) and GUJARAT GAS (up 0.8%) are among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, BPCL has moved up from Rs 186.3 to Rs 296.6, registering a gain of Rs 110.2 (up 59.2%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 18,362.7 to 28,520.2, registering a gain of 55.3% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were GAIL (up 99.3%), HPCL (up 83.2%) and IOC (up 78.8%).

The BSE Sensex is at 78,042.4 (up 0.9%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are Axis Bank (up 3.6%) and ICICI Bank (up 2.9%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are HDFC Bank and Power Grid Corp..

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 23,721.9 (up 0.8%). Shriram Transport and Axis Bank are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 63,523.2 to 78,042.4, registering a gain of 14,519.3 points (up 22.9%).

BPCL Financial Update...

BPCL net profit fell 14.4% YoY to Rs 49,922 million for the quarter ended March 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 58,344 million a year ago. Net sales declined 1.0% to Rs 1,320,869 million during the period as against Rs 1,334,196 million in January-March 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, BPCL reported 81.8% decrease in net profit to Rs 21,311 million compared to net profit of Rs 116,815 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 58.2% to Rs 4,128,271 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of BPCL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 5.0.
