BPCL Gains 4%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 0.7%

BPCL share price has zoomed 4% and is presently trading at Rs 315.1.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 31,040.7 (up 0.7%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are HPCL (up 3.4%) and GAIL (up 2.7%).

Reliance Ind. (down 2.7%) and Petronet LNG (down 0.6%) are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, BPCL has moved up from Rs 189.5 to Rs 315.1, registering a gain of Rs 125.6 (up 66.3%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 19,160.0 to 31,040.7, registering a gain of 62.0% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were GAIL (up 107.2%), ONGC (up 93.5%) and HPCL (up 82.3%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 80,786.9 (up 0.2%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are NTPC (up 2.8%) and HDFC Bank (up 2.6%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and NTPC.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 24,572.3 (up 0.2%). NTPC and HDFC Bank are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 66,795.1 to 80,786.9, registering a gain of 13,991.8 points (up 20.9%).

BPCL Financial Update...

BPCL net profit fell 75.8% YoY to Rs 24,622 million for the quarter ended June 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 101,677 million a year ago. Net sales declined 0.1% to Rs 1,281,064 million during the period as against Rs 1,282,636 million in April-June 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, BPCL reported 81.8% decrease in net profit to Rs 21,311 million compared to net profit of Rs 116,815 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 58.2% to Rs 4,128,271 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of BPCL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 7.6.
