BPCL Gains 2%; BSE OIL & GAS Index Up 0.8%

BPCL share price has zoomed 2% and is presently trading at Rs 627.3.

Meanwhile, the BSE OIL & GAS index is at 29,238.6 (up 0.8%).

Among the top gainers in the BSE OIL & GAS index today are HPCL (up 1.8%) and IOC (up 1.4%).

GUJARAT GAS (down 0.4%) and ADANI TOTAL GAS are among the top losers today.

Over the last one year, BPCL has moved up from Rs 375.0 to Rs 627.3, registering a gain of Rs 252.4 (up 67.3%).

On the other hand, the BSE OIL & GAS index has moved up from 18,270.8 to 29,238.6, registering a gain of 60.0% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE OIL & GAS index stocks during this same period were GAIL (up 103.0%), HPCL (up 92.5%) and IOC (up 84.2%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 77,478.9 (up 0.2%).

The top gainers among the BSE Sensex today are JSW Steel (up 1.7%) and Tata Steel (up 1.6%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and HDFC Bank.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 23,579.2 (up 0.3%). Hindalco and Grasim Industries are among the top gainers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 63,168.3 to 77,478.9, registering a gain of 14,310.6 points (up 22.7%).

BPCL Financial Update...

BPCL net profit fell 14.4% YoY to Rs 49,922 million for the quarter ended March 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 58,344 million a year ago. Net sales declined 1.0% to Rs 1,320,869 million during the period as against Rs 1,334,196 million in January-March 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, BPCL reported 81.8% decrease in net profit to Rs 21,311 million compared to net profit of Rs 116,815 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 58.2% to Rs 4,128,271 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of BPCL, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 5.3.
