Ashok Leyland Plunges 3%; BSE AUTO Index Down 0.6%

Ashok Leyland share price has plunged 3% and is presently trading at Rs 232.6.

Meanwhile, the BSE AUTO index is at 57,945.3 (down 0.6%).

Among the top losers in the BSE AUTO index today are Bajaj Auto (down 1.3%) and Hero Motocorp (down 1.3%).

TUBE INVESTMENTS OF INDIA (up 0.3%) is among the top gainers today.

Over the last one year, Ashok Leyland has moved up from Rs 156.4 to Rs 232.6, registering a gain of Rs 76.2 (up 48.7%).

On the other hand, the BSE AUTO index has moved up from 33,897.7 to 57,945.3, registering a gain of 70.9% during the last 12 months.

The top gainers among the BSE AUTO index stocks during this same period were Motherson Sumi (up 117.0%), M&M (up 113.6%) and Bajaj Auto (up 106.9%).

What About the Benchmark Indices?

The BSE Sensex is at 77,225.6 (down 0.1%).

The top losers among the BSE Sensex today are Titan (down 2.9%) and L&T (down 1.8%). The most traded stocks in the BSE Sensex are Tata Steel and HDFC Bank.

In the meantime, NSE Nifty is at 23,490.1 (down 0.3%). Titan and LTIMINDTREE are among the top losers in NSE NIFTY.

Over the last 12 months, the BSE Sensex has moved up from 63,228.5 to 77,225.6, registering a gain of 13,997.1 points (up 22.1%).

Ashok Leyland Financial Update...

Ashok Leyland net profit grew 17.2% YoY to Rs 9,279 million for the quarter ended March 2024, compared to a profit of Rs 7,918 million a year ago. Net sales rose 2.8% to Rs 135,776 million during the period as against Rs 132,026 million in January-March 2023.

For the year ended March 2023, Ashok Leyland reported 577.0% increase in net profit to Rs 13,617 million compared to net loss of Rs 2,855 million during FY22. Revenue of the company grew 58.8% to Rs 416,726 million during FY23.

The current Price to earnings ratio of Ashok Leyland, based on rolling 12 month earnings, stands at 25.5.
