After opening in the green, the Indian Indices have continued to trade on a firm note. Capital goods and metal stocks are leading the gainers currently. Mid and small cap stocks too are witnessing buying interest.
The BSE-Sensex is trading up by 260 points. The NSE-Nifty is trading up 72 points. The BSE Mid Cap index is trading up 0.9% and the BSE Small Cap index is trading up 1.2%. The rupee is trading at 63.31 to the US dollar.
Energy stocks are trading mixed today with MRPL and Gujarat Gas leading the gainers. As per a leading financial daily, the Supreme Court has allowed gas transporter GAIL to bid in a tender for the Ennore-Tuticorin natural gas pipeline. This comes on the back of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) rejecting its bid. Subsequently, GAIL had approached the Supreme Court so that its bid could be accepted.
Textile stocks are trading higher today led by Eastern Silk Industries and Page Industries. As per a leading business daily, textile major Arvind is planning to extend its omni-channel retail brand 'Creyate' to over 15 cities in the next one year. The latter is a customized tailoring clothing label. The company expects to touch a turnover of Rs 1 bn in this segment with the help of this expansion.
