After opening in the green, the Indian Indices have continued to trade firm during the morning session. Consumer durable and power stocks are leading the gainers. Mid and small cap stocks too are witnessing buying interest.
The BSE-Sensex is trading up by 240 points. The NSE-Nifty is trading up 66 points. The BSE Mid Cap index is trading up 2% and the BSE Small Cap index is trading up 2.3%. The rupee is trading at 63.58 to the US dollar.
Most energy stocks are trading higher today. Gujarat Gas and GAIL are leading the gainers. As per a leading financial daily, oil major ONGC has given out a Euro 100 mn contract to a French firm called 'Technip' to build an oil and gas terminal at Odalarevu in Andhra Pradesh. This terminal is slated to have a capacity of 6 million standard cubic meters per day, and will receive gas from ONGC's Vashistha and S1 fields in Bay of Bengal. The hydrocarbons extracted from these deep water offshore fields would be transported to this new onshore oil and gas terminal for processing.
Aluminum stocks are trading firm today. As per a leading business daily, aluminum major Hindalco is targeting a record US$ 1 billion of aluminium exports by the end of FY15. Encouraged by rising demand in the US and Europe, the company has set for itself this ambitious target. Reportedly, the company has exported less than half of this target as of mid-November.
