Asia markets traded mixed on Monday led by Japanese stocks. Japan's Nikkei 225 gained 2.03% and the Topix index rose 1.62%. South Korea's Kospi fell 0.28%, while the Kosdaq rose 0.37%.

US stock market ended higher on Friday, with the Dow Jones posting a record closing high.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rallied 341.16 points, or 0.81%, to 42,352.75, while the S&P 500 rose 51.13 points, or 0.90%, to 5,751.07.

Broader markets are trading on positive. The BSE Midcap index is trading 0.2% higher and the BSE Smallcap index is trading flat.

Sectoral indices are trading mixed today with stocks in realty sector, auto sector and IT sector witnessing buying.

Meanwhile stocks in power sector and metal sector witnessing selling pressure.

The rupee is trading at Rs 83.96 against the US dollar.

In commodity markets, gold prices are trading 0.2% lower at Rs 76,018 per 10 grams today.

GAIL India to Set Up Biogas Plant

The Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Ltd (BSWML) has decided to hand over 18 acres of land within the KCDC plant to GAIL India, which will be setting up a biogas plant at its own cost.

For BSWML, GAIL India's proposal seemed like a win-win solution, as the wet waste processing plant, operated by KCDC since 1975 has faced strong opposition from local residents due to air and environmental pollution concerns.

In the last three years, GAIL India, which has a large network of gas distribution lines in Bengaluru, has been searching for suitable land to establish a 300-tonne biogas plant. The civic body cleared the detailed project report (DPR) in October 2021, and the government eventually approved the project in October 2022.

According to the DPR, GAIL India will invest about Rs 65 crore to establish the 300-tonne biogas plant. The facility is expected to produce approximately 10.70 tonnes of CNG per day and 31.39 tonnes of organic manure, among other products.

The BBMP will also benefit, as it will be able to dispose of about 6% of its total waste without incurring any additional costs.

IndiGo Operations Return to Normalcy

IndiGo's operations were normal on Sunday, a day after the airline's systems outage, which resulted in long waiting hours for passengers at airports. The airline operates more than 2,000 flights daily.

An airline official said operations were normal on Sunday.

The outage on Saturday lasted for many hours, and systems were back to normal late in the night.

Airport services for IndiGo passengers were impacted, and some flights were delayed due to the outage on Saturday.

Lupin Receives USFDA Observations

The US Food and Drugs Administration completed a pre-approval inspection of Lupin Ltd.'s biotech facility in Pune, the company said on Saturday. The inspection was carried out from Sept. 25 to Oct. 4 and concluded with five observations.

The drugmaker did not disclose USFDA's observations but said it is addressing them comprehensively and will respond within the stipulated timeframe.

According to the Lupin website, it has three centres in Pune - Lupin Biotech, Lupin Research Park (LRP), and Lupin Bioresearch Center (LBC) and all three centres are involved in the development of biosimilars for the global markets.

All manufacturing is carried out at Lupin Biotech, all biosimilar research is in Lupin Research Park and all the Phase 1 and PK studies along with testing for CT are carried out in the Lupin Bioresearch Centre.

The biotech facility can manufacture mammalian and microbial products for commercial global supplies.

The USFDA inspects and assesses regulated facilities to determine a firm's compliance with applicable laws and regulations. FDA investigators may observe conditions they deem to be objectionable during inspections.

Inspected firms are encouraged to respond in writing, within 15 days from the issuance of the FDA- 483, FDA-4056, or verbal observations, by submitting their corrective action plan with supporting documentation, and promptly implement corrective actions to address the cited objectionable conditions.

Last week, Lupin said the USFDA issued six observations in its latest inspection at Pithampur facility. Three of the observations were made on Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients and on finished products.
