Sensex Today Trades Higher | JBM Auto Rallies 12% | HCL Technologies, Infosys Top Gainers

Asian stocks are trading mixed today as they are set to notch its biggest weekly advance since January amid a rebound in Chinese stocks and bets that the Federal Reserve is approaching an interest-rate peak.

The Nikkei is trading 0.3% higher, and the Hang Seng index and Shanghai composite are trading higher 0.3%.

US stocks extended recent gains to end higher on Thursday, with the Nasdaq rising more than 1% for a second straight day, as data showed the annual increase in US producer inflation was the smallest in nearly three years.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.2% higher, and the tech heavy Nasdaq Composite ended up 1.7%.

Back home, Indian share markets are trading on a positive note following the trend on Gift Nifty.

At present, the BSE Sensex is trading higher by 122 points. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty is trading up by 40 points.

HCL Technologies, Infosys and Tech Mahindra are among the top gainers today.

Power Grid, NTPC, and M&M on the other hand are among the top losers today.

Broader markets are trading on a positive note. The BSE Mid Cap index is up by 0.4% the BSE Small Cap index is trading 0.7% higher.

Sectoral indices are trading on a positive note with the exception of power sector, healthcare sector, and utilities sector. Stocks in the IT sector, metal sector, and realty sector witness buying.

Shares of 3M India and Hawkins Cookers hit their 52-week high today.

The rupee is trading at Rs 82.04 against the US dollar.

In commodity markets, gold prices are trading higher by Rs 42 at Rs 59,281 per 10 grams today.

Meanwhile, silver prices are trading higher by 0.4% at Rs 75,594 per 1 kg.

Big traders exit Delta Corporation as GST rate increases

Six out of the seven clients holding large derivatives positions in Delta Corporation, a gaming and casino company, closed their positions following the 11 July Goods and Services Tax (GST) Council meeting.

The stock, which plunged 23% after the council decided to raise GST rates on gaming and casinos from 18% to 28%, prompted these clients to take immediate action. To know more about this in detail read our editorial on why Delta Corporation share price is falling.

After they closed their positions, the Delta Corporation stock was removed from the futures and options (F&O) ban it had been subjected to on 7 July.

Such a ban is imposed by exchanges when outstanding positions held by traders surpass a predetermined threshold. When a stock is banned, traders and clients are prohibited from initiating new positions, but can only square-off existing positions.

Another order win by Rail Vikas Nigam

Rail Vikas Nigam has received a Letter of Award (LOA) worth Rs 8,084.8 million (m) from the National Highways Authority of India. The order is for the rehabilitation and upgradation from 4 to 8 laning of Chandikhole - Paradip Section of NH-53 (Old NH-5A) from Km. 60 to km 76.646 in the State of Odisha.

Rail Vikas Nigam is a mid-cap company operating in the railway sector.

For the quarter ended on 31 March 2023, Rail Vikas Nigam reported a consolidated total income of Rs 59.8 billion (bn). This represents a 12.9% YoY increase compared to the previous quarter's total income of Rs 52.9 bn, but a 10.1% YoY decrease compared to the total income of Rs 66.5 bn in the same quarter of the previous year.

The company recorded a net profit after tax of Rs 3.4 bn in the latest quarter.

Rail Vikas Nigam share price has shown a positive trend over various time periods. In the last 1 month, the share price increased by 6.1%. Over the last 3 months, it rose by 65%.

In the last 12 months, it surged by 310.3%. Looking at a longer-term perspective, in the last 3 years, the share price has grown by an impressive 523.6%.

GMR Power and Urban Infra bagged a new order

GMR Power and Urban Infra has received an order from the Uttar Pradesh government for the installation and maintenance of 75.7 lakh smart meters in the state.

A letter of intent has been issued to its stepdown GMR Smart Electricity Distribution by discoms Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam (PVVNL) and Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam (DVVNL).

The project will span over a period of 10 years.
