Asian shares were muted as investors kept watch for possible intervention by Japanese authorities to stop the yen's decline.
MSCI's broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan rose 0.2 per cent.

Broader markets are trading on positive note. The BSE Midcap index is trading 0.6% higher and the BSE Small Cap index are trading 0.3% higher.
Barring healthcare stocks all other sectoral indices are trading positive, with socks in metal sector, realty sector and oil & gas sector witnessing buying.
The rupee is trading at Rs 83.23 against the US dollar.
In commodity markets, gold prices are trading marginally higher at Rs 71,435 per 10 grams today.
Meanwhile, silver prices are trading 0.3% lower at Rs 82,733 per 1 kg.

Payment aggregators enable their clients to accept various payment methods such as debit cards, credit cards, cardless EMIs, UPI, bank transfers, e-wallets and e-mandates.
Last month, PB Fintech said PB Pay Private Limited would be a non-banking finance company (NBFC) and carry on the business of payment aggregator-domestic and/or cross border or both, as may be permitted by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
