Asian equities rose on Monday as US inflation figures did little to alter views that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates this year.
South Korean stocks advanced while Japanese shares traded in a narrow range after a report showed confidence among the country's large manufacturers weakened slightly for the first time in four quarters.
The US stock market indices ended mixed on Thursday with the S&P 500 notching its strongest first quarter in five years.

The rupee is trading at Rs 83.43 against the US dollar.
In commodity markets, gold prices are trading 1.7% higher at Rs 68,852 per 10 grams today.
Meanwhile, silver prices are trading 0.9% higher at Rs 75,782 per 1 kg.

The first aircraft LA5033 of the Tejas Mk1A series successfully soared in the sky after taking off from the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) facility in Bengaluru on Thursday, the public sector aerospace and defence company said.
According to HAL, the Tejas Mk1A aircraft did a successful sortie with a flying time of 18 minutes.
HAL achieved this significant production milestone with concurrent design and development amid major supply chain challenges in the global geopolitical environment, after the contract signature in February 2021.
Extending its gratitude to the Ministry of Defence, Indian Air Force, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and associated private firms for contributing to the success of this programme.
HAL signed a Transfer of Technology (ToT) agreement with CSIR-National Aerospace Laboratories (CSIR-NAL) on 8 November 2023.
The agreement was aimed at manufacturing BMI Engine Bay Door for the series production of Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) - Tejas Mk1A - an indigenous 4.5 generation, all-weather and multi-role fighter aircraft for the Indian Air Force.

State-run Rail Vikas Nigam has emerged as the lowest (L1) bidder for three orders, one of which is in a Joint Venture with Salasar Techno Engineering.
The first contract is for the design, supply, erection, testing and commissioning for the upgradation of the electric traction system from 1x25 KV to 2x25 KV traction system for the Kharagpur-Bhadrak section of the South Eastern Railway to meet the 3,000 MT loading target.
This contract, which needs to be completed within 18 months, is worth Rs 1.5 bn.
RVNL has also emerged as the lowest bidder for a Northeast Frontier Railway project worth Rs 959.5 m.
The project involves engineering, procurement, construction of design, supply, erection, testing and commissioning of 25 kV and 50 Hz, single phase, AC, electrification OHE and TSS works of Araria - Thakurganj new line section in the NF railway.
This project needs to be completed in the next 240 days.
Additionally, the company, in a Joint Venture with Salasar Techno Engineering emerged as the lowest bidder for an Energy Development Corporation.
project for plant design, supply and installation of 45.8 km, 110Kv double circuit Rukarara-Huye-Gisagara Transmission Lines.
The total contract value is said to be worth US$ 7.15 m. RVNL has a 49% stake in the Joint Venture.

Infosys Ltd, India's second-largest software services provider, is set to receive a tax refund of Rs 63.3 bn from the income tax department. However, the company also faces a significant tax liability of Rs 27.6 bn.
The orders are, as per various sections of the Income Tax Act, of 1961. The said refunds, inclusive of interest, pertain to assessment years spanning from 2007-08 to 2018-19.
On the other hand, the tax liability pertains to the assessment year 2022-23, including interest. Furthermore, for the assessment year 2011-12, Infosys has a tax demand of Rs 40 m, including interest.
In 2022-23, the company reported consolidated income tax expenses of Rs 92.1 bn, compared to Rs 79.6 bn in the previous fiscal year.
According to the company, income tax expense comprises current and deferred income tax.
