Once upon a time, an investor advised us one thing:
"Rule one - Trust no one.
Rule two - don't forget rule one."
And this has been proven time and again.
Time for a story...
It was the eventful year of 2008, just when the Great Recession was showing its ugly head to the world.
Satyam received the Golden Peacock Global Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance under Risk Management and Compliance Issues, from the World Council for Corporate Governance (WCFCG).
Things were going pretty well for Satyam. Suddenly, in January 2009, Satyam was investigated and accused of falsifying and misleading the investors, resulting in money laundering in billions. Later came to be known as the Satyam Scandal, this was India's very own Enron Scandal in action.
Shares fell from triple digits to double digits, and investors, like you and us, were going berserk over the sudden downfall of this tech giant.
And is this the first and last instance of breach of trust and loyalty towards us, the investors? No. Who can forget about the massive telecom 2G scam last year and the infamous Reebok India scam in May 2012?
Unfortunately, this is how it happens in the corporate world. Seeing is not believing these days!
...So, what do we do now?
In response to the increasing fear, heightening confusion and unreliable company statements, we have come up with a unique and reliable answer to the question of the whole investors' community.
We have decided to bring every investor together...to create a platform where investors guide other investors on which company to trust and which company not to trust...where you will get an idea how we, investors, perceive some of the most popular Indian companies.
We have prepared a corporate trust poll - India's Most Trustworthy Corporate Group 2012.
All you have to do is vote for the company you trust the most. We count your respective votes, record your precious opinions and disseminate the ultimate results among the rest of the investors and anyone concerned.
We have been running this annual poll for over a couple years now, and noticing the overwhelming response shown by over thousands of participants till now, we have decided to run it ONE MORE TIME.
Let us bring the whole investors' community. Cast your vote to let us know your opinion.
Why cast your vote now?
...Do you care about reading "between the lines" and taking the right investing step?
...Do you care about standing up for what's right and bringing the truth out in the open?

A wakeup call for the Corporate Groups in India...
Over the past few weeks, Equitymaster conducted its Annual Poll to find out The Most Trustworthy Corporate Group in India.
4,657 people participated in this poll and here’s their verdict:
Out of the 13 shortlisted companies, Tata Group has been declared the Most Trustworthy Corporate Group yet again, with 55.77% votes.
HDFC Group has been voted second with just 10.41% votes.
And ESSAR Group ranked at the bottom of the list with just 0.32% votes.
Even though Tata Group maintains its Top-Spot, the company has seen a drop from the percentage of votes it received last year.
Infosys, on the other hand, has dropped a spot from the second rank it had secured in the last two polls.
We will be posting a detailed note on the Poll result shortly, so do look out for it.
